A Day with Jesus

      Matthew 7:1-

Jesus is talking to the people.  1 “Do not judge (find faults), so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you."

“Is Jesus saying we can’t tell people we want them to change? Said Peter. “The Pharisees are always saying we need to change and not do this,” said Luke. It also aggravates me!”

3Why do you look at the speck (fault) that is in your brother’s eye (moral condition) but do not notice the log (deficiencies) that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck (shortcomings) out of your eye,’ and look, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye!

6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; [seek, and you will find (Jesus); knock, and it will be opened to you. (salvation) 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and the one who knocks it will be opened."

Why does Jesus speak about the eye? I looked it up a little, but an eye can represent moral condition. It is also the most sensitive nerve in your body.

  Acts 4:13-22

13 Now when they (people) saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they (people) recognized that they had been with Jesus. 14 But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition. 15 But when they had commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one another, 16 saying, “What shall we do with these men? For that a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 

Peter said to John “why are they wanting to arrest us? It doesn’t make sense because we haven’t broken the law?” John replied while laughing “they are probable writing a new law now.”

17 But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.(Jesus)” 18 So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” 21 And when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people, for all were praising God for what had happened. 22 For the man on whom this sign of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

Jeremiah 20:13

Sing to the Lord; praise the Lord! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hand of evildoers.

Joel 2:26

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.

Eye's of God  

According to the Bible, eyes can represent spiritual perception, moral condition, divine omniscience, and understanding, rather than just physical sight. Jesus describes the eye as the lamp of the body.  Other scriptures refer to eyes as believing and comprehending spiritual truth. Conversely, "having eyes and not seeing" represents spiritual blindness, stubbornness, or a refusal to accept God's message.     Biblehub.com

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!   

1 Peter 3:12

Having Fun

  I want to take time to look at Junior high school football.  It typically covers 7th and 8th grade. They use a junior football, size 6 or 7.  For it is smaller and easier to grip. They also have shorter football quarters, like eight to ten minutes, while high school football is played for twelve minutes. Junior high football helps them to be ready for high school football programs.

Equestrian (Horse) riding is so fun. Start anytime to ride horses.  My first horse was a Shelton pony.  They are short. As a girl I couldn't wait to get Cowboy boots and a saddle.  I still do. Beware though you might get saddle sore. When we grow up, you can still ride and have fun. You might like Equestrian Jumping and going  to the Olympics. You are never too old to dream.

Shadrach said” How did it go?” “I’m glad it’s over" replied Daniel.

  A Little Change

Pumpkin  

When fall arrives I want everything pumpkin.  I’m starting with Michels Design Works soap. They have a bar of soap called Pumpkin Delight. It is made with moisturizing shea butter and other items. I’m ordering it today from Amazon. While I was at Walmart, I spotted a pumpkin outside rug. Now I need a candle. Yankee candle reviews receive high marks on Amazon. I’m going with Yankee Spice Candle. Now Pumpkin bread! Yum!!! 

A Little Change

A few well-placed throw pillows for a couch is a good change. I like the cozy feeling for my living room. For fall, I chose a sage green. Try to think of rich textures like velvet, and faux fur layered on the sofa.  A palette inspired by the season could be burnt oranges, deep burgundy, harvest gold, and earthy neutrals. You can mix patterns like plaids, botanical prints, and geometrics to add interest. Different sizes and shapes give you a serene, inviting look! Have fun! World Market

Mere Christianity is a book made for unbelievers and believers. In this book, Lewis is good at being a powerful debater for Christ and the Christian faith. Topics include a difference in right and wrong, morality, marriage, and sin. Other topics include faith, hope and kindness. It’s a book to keep. 

You Are Special Max Lucado

This book by Max Lucado tells a beautiful story which reminds us that we are special to God just the way we are. The town of Wemmickville there lives a man called Punchinello. Each day the residents are given awards for their work or their talent. They receive stickers of gold stars for the talented, smart, and attractive. Gray dots for those who make mistakes or are plain ordinary. Punchinello, covered in gray dots, and he begins to feel worthless. Then one day he visits Eli the woodcarver, his creator, and he learns that his worth comes from a different source. Only God knows your true talent.

ESV is called the (English Standard Version). It translates from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek manuscripts. It is known as word-for-word and thought-for-thought. The translators or writers rely on original biblical manuscripts from and the 1971 RSV text. They also use linguistic foundation while cross-checking every word against original languages. It is widely considered an ideal middle ground between the New American Standard Bible (NASB) and the New International Version (NIV). The NASB has a more ordinary text and a familiar conversation we see today.  It matches the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words for this Bible. The New International Version (NIV) is translated by an evangelical committee to balance literal accuracy with modern readability. They use words from the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. I have all three and love to cross check verses online and with each Bible. Soft covers tend to last longer for me because I carry Bibles and use them a lot in my studies. I enjoy the ESV Bible the most, and a study Bible will help beginners to find the right Bible for themselves. Try Hobby Lobby.
